Real Estate & Finance Counsel — New Jersey

About the role

Our client is a New Jersey net-lease real estate investment and capital-markets platform with more than $1 billion in assets under management, an affiliated REIT and a DST syndication business. It is hiring its in-house Real Estate & Finance Counsel. The role • Run commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions from purchase agreement to closing, often as the only lawyer on the deal. • Portfolio of single-tenant, net-lease industrial and medical properties leased to creditworthy tenants; typical deal sizes of $20–100 million. • Prepare and update offering documents (PPMs) and DST documentation, support financings including bridge and mezzanine structures, and handle tenant matters such as estoppels, SNDAs and renewals. • A lean, entrepreneurial team that uses AI tools for drafting and review. Reports to the Chief Legal Officer. • Hybrid: two to three days a week in the New Jersey office, an easy commute from New York City. What we are looking for • 5–10+ years of hands-on transactional commercial real estate experience, handled end to end. • Admitted in New Jersey and/or New York. • A mid-size firm or real estate sponsor background; a well-rounded operator rather than a narrow specialist. • Personal experience running due diligence: title, survey, Phase I environmental, property condition, zoning and leases. • Comfortable working autonomously, practical and business-minded. • DST/1031 and real estate finance experience are strong advantages but not essential. Package Around $200,000 base plus a bonus of roughly 25%, with equity upside linked to a planned public listing of the affiliated REIT.
